01

The Engagement

The Situation

Immaculate Homecare Services wanted to honour frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic while introducing its home care services to potential clients being discharged from the nursing homes and hospitals the parade would visit. I was based in Kenya, while the project team and stakeholders were based in Boston, Massachusetts. This eight-hour time difference was already causing communication delays with several stakeholders during early planning.

The Challenge

Left unaddressed, the timezone gap threatened to slow decision-making and push the campaign's launch date. Stakeholders in Boston needed materials, updates and approvals ready and waiting when their working day began, not queued behind mine. The campaign also needed to succeed on two fronts simultaneously, as a tribute and as a client acquisition channel.

02

Strategic Approach

01

Built detailed project timelines in Microsoft Project and shared them across the full team to create a single source of truth on progress and deadlines.

02

Restructured task allocation so different team members worked staggered windows, ensuring Boston-based leadership had materials, updates and feedback requests ready at the start of their day.

03

Coordinated the parade route and messaging to serve both the tribute and the client-acquisition objective at once.

The Results

Quantifiable Outcomes

  • The campaign's planning phase shortened by 2 weeks, freeing the team to focus on other priorities.
  • Brand engagement increased by 25%, up from a baseline of 10%, measured through website and social media traffic.
  • Revenue increased by 15%, as recorded in financial statements.

Qualitative Achievements

  • The Car Parade was featured in the Boston Globe, generating significant earned media and public visibility.
  • The timezone-aware workflow became a repeatable model for coordinating future remote campaigns.
  • The campaign strengthened the organisation's positioning with families of patients being discharged from partner facilities.

A time difference is only a risk if it is left to resolve itself. Restructured deliberately, it becomes a scheduling advantage rather than a delay.

Tools & Competencies

Tools Used

  • Microsoft Project

Used to build the detailed, shared project timelines that kept Boston-based leadership aligned despite the eight-hour time difference with Kenya.

  • WordPress

Used to manage the organisation's website updates that supported the campaign's public-facing visibility.

  • Power BI

Used to build the KPI dashboards that tracked brand engagement and revenue movement throughout the campaign.

This project proved that distributed, cross-timezone delivery can outperform co-located teams when the workflow is designed around the gap rather than around ignoring it. It remains my clearest example of a marketing project measured and won on hard commercial numbers.
